Job summary

Pratt & Whitney is seeking an MCL Engineer to support development and qualification of new processes at the Asheville site. You will assist metallurgical evaluations, communicate across engineering, manufacturing, and MCL, and contribute to continuous improvement while ensuring safety and process compliance.

The role requires hands-on technical skills, strong teamwork, and the ability to adapt to changing requirements.

Qualifications

• B.S Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years prior relevant experience, or
• An Advanced Degree in a related field OR an Associate's degree with 4+ years of related experience OR a High School Diploma/ GED and 6+ years of related experience.
• US citizenship is required due to government contracts.

Responsibilities

• Perform metallographic evaluation and documentation of various processes including advance aluminides coating, EDM, Weld, braze, grinding used in blade and vanes airfoils.
• Provide clear, concise and accurate lab reports.
• Maintain records, mounts and sample residue retention.
• Monitor testing frequency of all processes.
• Develop cut up and evaluation sheet for all tested parts.
• Perform annual ESA/MCL audit and five years MCL Source Qualification surveys.
• Interacts with other functional groups on routine technical matters.
• Investigation of various parts and process related problems.

Position Overview

The Material Control Lab (MCL) Engineer will support the development and qualification of new processes to meet or exceed delivery and quality targets and will assist in manufacturing readiness for these processes at the Asheville, NC site. Candidate will assist in metallurgical evaluations as needed and must demonstrate hands‑on technical skills, interpersonal and team skills, as well as strong communication skills and the ability to multi‑task and adapt to changing business requirements.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities will include regular interaction with production, engineering, and MCL personnel to help respond to metallurgical problems, develop effective root cause and corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. Position may also require occasional off‑shift and weekend coverage based on business requirements and training. Be an effective team player and contributor utilizing the CORE tools and continuous improvement by maintaining EH&S and operating requirements in order to assure a safe and productive working environment. This position is classified as: Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
