Job summary

RTX is seeking a Material Control Lab (MCL) Engineer at the Asheville, NC site to support development and qualification of new processes, ensuring delivery and quality targets. The role involves metallurgical evaluations, hands-on technical work, and collaboration with production, engineering, and MCL teams.

You will participate in root-cause analysis, continuous improvement, and documentation of lab results.

Qualifications

• BS Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field
• OR an Associate's degree with 4+ years of related experience
• OR a High School Diploma/ GED and 6+ years of related experience
• US citizenship is required due to government contracts.

Responsibilities

• Perform metallographic evaluation and documentation of various processes including advance aluminides coating, EDM, Weld, braze, grinding used in blade and vanes airfoils
• Provide clear, concise and accurate lab reports
• Maintain records, mounts and sample residue retention
• Monitor testing frequency of all processes
• Develop cut up and evaluation sheet for all tested parts
• Perform annual ESA/MCL audit and five years MCL Source Qualification surveys
• Interacts with other functional groups on routine technical matters
• Investigation of various parts and process related problems

The Material Control Lab (MCL) Engineer will support the development and qualification of new processes to meet or exceed delivery and quality targets and will assist in manufacturing readiness for these processes at the Asheville, NC site. Candidate will assist in metallurgical evaluations as needed and must demonstrate hands-on technical skills, interpersonal and team skills, as well as strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing business requirements.

What You Will Do:

Responsibilities will include regular interaction with production , engineering, and MCL personnel to help respond to metallurgical problems , develop effective root cause and corrective action s, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Position may also require occasional off-shift and weekend coverage based on business requirements and training.

Be an effective team player and contributor utilizing the CORE tools and continues improvement by maintaining EH&S and operating requirements in order to assure a safe and productive working environment.
