Job summary

Genesis Marine in Houston seeks a qualified Mate to safely and efficiently operate the vessel and tow, including navigation, piloting, seaworthiness, crew safety, and environmental protection in compliance with regulations. You will manage bridge operations, supervise deck crew, maintain professional relations with charterers, and complete administrative tasks to support safe, reliable service.

Qualifications

Ability to read, write, render, understand, and react to commands in English.
Preference for ability to read and write in Spanish.
Valid driver’s license and TWIC card.
US Merchant Mariner’s document and STCW training/certification as required.
USCG license appropriate to vessel type, tonnage, route and service.
FCC Marine Radio Operators Permit.

Responsibilities

Safe piloting, navigation and maintenance of the vessel and tow in compliance with laws and regulations.
Operational management of the vessel per Master/Relief Master directions, including service delivery and cost management.
Set and stand bridge and helm watches in rotation with other deck officers.
Direct and supervise deck crew per job descriptions and safety requirements.
Maintain professional relationships with charterers while prioritizing safety and company goals.
Complete bridge management and HR administrative tasks.
