Job summary

River Oaks Country Club, Inc. in Houston, TX is seeking enthusiastic swim coaches to train our masters team and provide aquatic coaching opportunities.

The role runs on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings with 5:30am-6:30am and 7:00am-8:00am sessions, and may include coaching other fitness classes. Responsibilities include designing workouts, setting goals, giving feedback, leading participants, and teaching strokes while maintaining a safe pool environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years coaching experience or 2+ years as a collegiate swimmer.
  • Knowledge of all four strokes and USA Swimming Rules.
  • Current Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches.
  • Ability to work outdoors and tolerate sun and heat.
  • Strong organizational and management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement workouts for athletes that cater to individuals and the group.
  • Set training goals and objectives for teams and individuals.
  • Provide global and individual feedback to athletes.
  • Lead and motivate participants.
  • Evaluate participant performance and progress.
  • Teach current strokes and techniques.
  • Ensure the pool area is neat and safe.
  • Respond to emergencies with safety staff.

Description

It is an exciting time to join River Oaks Country Club! We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated and qualified coaches to train our masters swim team and other aquatic coaching opportunities.

Employee Meals | Employee Amenities| $25.00 per hour per coaching session| Part-time Role

Lessons are on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:30am-6:30am & 7am-8am with possible opportunity to coach other Fitness classes

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create and implement workouts for athletes that cater to needs of individuals and the group as a whole.
  • Setting training goals and objectives for teams and individuals.
  • Give global and individual feedback to athletes.
  • Lead and motivate participants.
  • Evaluate participant performance and progress.
  • Teaching current and industry leading strokes and techniques.
  • Ensure the pool or training area is neat and free of hazards.
  • Respond to emergencies in pool or poolside in tandem with the facility safety team.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of swim coaching experience or was a swim athlete for 2+ years at the collegiate level.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of all four strokes and understands all aspects of USA Swimming Competitive Rules and Regulations.
  • Good knowledge of health and nutrition.
  • Strong organizational and management skills.
  • Possess current Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification from American Red Cross.
  • Ability to demonstrate swimming skills.
  • Ability to work outside in the poolside area up to 95% of the time, exposed to sunlight, wet and humid conditions, cold weather and heat occasionally exceeding 100 degrees.
  • Ability to spend long periods of time standing.
