Job summary

River Oaks Country Club in Houston, TX is seeking a Maintenance Technician to oversee all mechanical areas of the club facility and grounds, ensuring the club operates at peak efficiency.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will perform repairs on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and kitchen equipment, inspect systems, and support event setup while maintaining safety, PPE usage, and a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications

  • Mechanically inclined with knowledge of mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical and HVAC.
  • Able to read and interpret trade schematics and drawings.
  • Hospitality/building management experience preferred.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains repairs to plumbing fixtures, electrical system, appliances, ventilation and building structure.
  • Performs painting, carpentry and electrical tasks as needed.
  • Maintains and services HVAC and kitchen equipment.
  • Inspects lighting and adjusts as required.
  • Tests water hardness and checks chiller pressures.
  • Responds to maintenance requests from staff and members.
  • Assists in event setup and club decorations.
  • Safely uses hand and power tools and PPE.

Description

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Maintenance Technician helps oversee all mechanical areas of the club facility and the grounds to keep the club functioning at top efficiency.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Maintains/undertakes general repairs to the plumbing fixtures, electrical system, appliances, ventilation system and building structure of the club

  • Performs various duties involving painting, carpentry and electrical work

  • Maintains the air conditioning, refrigerators and kitchen equipment

  • Inspects lighting throughout the club and makes any necessary changes

  • Performs water test for hardness and checks pressure on all chillers

  • Checks all motors in engine room

  • Responds to calls from staff and members for maintenance throughout the property

  • Assists in setting up the Club PA system and decorations for events

  • Diagnoses problems replace or repair parts, test and adjust accordingly

  • Safely uses a variety of hand and power tools and material handling equipment

  • Detects and reports faulty operations and defective materials as required

  • Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) whenever required

  • Complies with safety regulations

  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area


Qualifications


  • Mechanically inclined with all-around knowledge of mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical and HVAC

  • Possesses the aptitude to perform hands-on repairs HVAC, refrigeration systems, sprinkler and electrical trades

  • Able to read and understand trade-related schematics, construction documents and drawings

  • Previous experience in the hospitality, education, arts, building management sectors is preferred

  • Previous experience working in an environment where managing buildings and grounds was central to the role required

  • Able to communicate effectively in English – speaking, writing and reading

  • Able to spend the majority of the shift standing; Can work in all weather, including high temperatures; Can competently climb ladders, craw through small spaces; Able to push, pull, lift up to 30lbs
