Job summary

STS Technical Services is seeking a Machining SME / Programmer in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to program large CNC centers, develop setups and provide shop-floor blueprint interpretation with GD&T expertise.

The role requires hands-on experience with Mastercam and FANUC controls, plus the ability to generate accurate time estimates and support customer quotes. Strong measurement and problem-solving skills are essential in a demanding shop environment.

Qualifications

At least five years of experience programming Mastercam and/or FANUC controls for large machining centers.
Experience with Hyundai, Okuma, Haas, Doosan or similar equipment.
Expert-level blueprint reading and GD&T skills.
Strong math skills and ability to perform standard and metric calculations.
Proven problem-solving and communication with vendors and internal teams.

Responsibilities

Review blueprints, manuals, specifications and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances and setup requirements.
Program parts using Mastercam.
Set up and operate CNC machining centers and conventional machines.
Run trials to verify machine settings and CNC programs.
Perform first-piece and in-process inspections and document results.
Develop machining time estimates used for customer quotes.
Collaborate with tooling vendors to optimize parts and support quotations.
