Job summary

Tom James Custom Clothing sales office in Southfield, MI is seeking a full-time Seamstress/Tailor or Master Tailor. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled professional who takes pride in exceptional craftsmanship, has outstanding attention to detail, and is committed to delivering perfectly tailored, high-quality garments.

This is a full-time, on-site position averaging 30–35 hours per week. Compensation is offered on either an hourly or piece-rate basis, depending on the candidate's

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of tailoring experience in a retail or customer-service environment.
• Strong working knowledge of garment construction in men's and women's apparel and ability to perform high-quality workmanship including hand and by machine.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Self-starter.
• Able to perform multiple tasks efficiently with a strong organization of time.

Responsibilities

• To make adjustments to men’s and women’s suits, shirts, coats, blazers, dresses, and trousers.
• Shorten/lengthen sleeves and trousers; taper sides; lower collars.
• Take in/out waist, seat and rise on pants; adjust fit for client.
• Ensure proper sizing of clients and maintain professional interactions.
• Track detailed alteration production daily; press and finish garments for client delivery.
• Complete work promptly to meet customer delivery dates.
• Maintain clean work environment and paperwork for daily assignments.
