Job summary

Tom James Company in San Antonio, TX is seeking a full-time Seamstress/Tailor or Master Tailor with a strong track record in delivering premium, client-ready garments. The role requires on-site work in a fast-paced retail environment, with a 40-hour work week and piece-rate compensation based on alterations completed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years tailoring experience in a retail or customer-service environment.
• Strong working knowledge of garment construction in men’s and women’s apparel and ability to perform high-quality workmanship including hand and by machine.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Self-starter and able to perform multiple tasks efficiently with good time organization.

Responsibilities

• Make adjustments to men’s and women’s suits, shirts, coats, blazers, dresses, and trousers.
• Shorten/lengthen sleeves.
• Taper sides of garments.
• Lower collars.
• Take in/out trousers waist.
• Take in/out seat and rise on pants.
• Shorten/lengthen trousers.
• Taper trouser thighs and foot widths.
• Ensure proper sizing of clients.
• Manage interactions with professionalism.
• Track detailed alteration production daily.
• Perform alterations on all garments submitted for alteration, press finished garments, remove threads, and prepare for client delivery.
• Complete work promptly to meet customer delivery dates.
• Maintain a clean work environment and complete required paperwork daily.
