GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, providing consultations on hair care needs, recommending products and services, and delivering high-quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look. They support the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) by emphasizing performance, guest service, and adherence to operating procedures and standards. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service skills, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance

• Perform hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250 through excellent guest service and contribute to retail and service sales targets, guest loyalty, and shrink reduction.
• Demonstrate products to guests to enhance sales and service experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services, and be knowledgeable about their ingredients and benefits.
• Maintain consistent attendance.

People

• Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail team to provide comprehensive guest service.
• Foster professional relationships with peers and brand partners to enhance guest experience.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend training and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow service protocols for consistency and quality.
• Use booking systems to manage appointments and client information for repeat services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards of the salon and store areas.
• Adhere to the dress code.
• Follow loss prevention practices and deliver excellent guest service.
• Perform additional operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Cosmetology license required

Experience

• Relevant work experience required

Skills

• Proficiency in salon techniques: haircutting, coloring, styling, treatments, extensions, makeup, ear piercing.
• Ability to operate salon equipment and chemicals safely.
• Skill in recommending and selling hair care and makeup products.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The pay range is $10.70 - $17.80/hour or service pay, based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
