GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs, and recommending products and services. They deliver high-quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look. Supporting the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager, they focus on performance, guest service, and adherence to operating procedures. A passion for the beauty industry, excellent guest service skills, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through:

Performance

• Performing various hair services and makeup applications, including haircuts, color, styling, treatments, and ear piercing where applicable.
• Achieving or exceeding a weekly sales goal of $1250 and contributing to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
• Conducting product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Supporting in-store events and marketing initiatives.
• Staying informed about industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Maintaining consistent attendance.

People

• Developing guest relationships through consultations and recommendations.
• Serving all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborating with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Building professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
• Promoting the guest loyalty program and app.
• Attending training and meetings for professional development.

Process

• Ensuring compliance with company policies, safety, sanitation, and infection control standards.
• Following service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Using booking systems to schedule guests and events.
• Communicating supply needs and maintaining store cleanliness.
• Adhering to dress code and loss prevention practices.
• Performing other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Cosmetology license

Experience: Relevant prior work experience required

• Proficiency in latest salon techniques and equipment use.
• Ability to recommend and sell products effectively.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Building and maintaining client relationships.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
