General Summary & Scope

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. Delivers quality professional services focusing on the guest’s total look. Supports the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through performance (sales, productivity), people (guest service), and process (procedures and compliance). Requires passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge communication skills.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The Master Stylist demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values by performing duties including:

Performance

• Perform hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Meet or exceed weekly sales goals of $1250 and productivity targets through excellent guest service and sales efforts.
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, understanding their ingredients and benefits.
• Maintain regular attendance.

People

• Develop guest relationships via consultations and recommendations.
• Serve all guests promptly and efficiently.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail team for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and app usage.
• Attend trainings and meetings for professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols per state guidelines.
• Adhere to service protocols for consistent guest experiences.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the store.
• Follow dress code policies.
• Protect company assets through loss prevention practices.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education

• Cosmetology license required.

Experience

• Relevant work experience required.

Skills

• Proficiency in latest salon techniques across all service categories.
• Ability to operate salon equipment and chemicals safely.
• Skill in recommending and selling hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.

Special Position Requirements

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions
