GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Master Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. They deliver quality professional services focusing on the guest’s total look, support the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager, and demonstrate a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance
- Performing hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing.
- Achieving or exceeding a weekly sales goal of $1250 and supporting store sales, loyalty, and shrink goals.
- Conducting product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
- Supporting in-store events and marketing initiatives.
- Staying informed on industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
- Maintaining prompt attendance.
People
- Building guest relationships through consultations and recommendations.
- Serving all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
- Collaborating with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
- Fostering professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
- Promoting the guest loyalty program and Ulta Beauty app.
- Attending mandatory training and meetings for professional development.
Process
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Following safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols.
- Adhering to service protocols for consistency and quality.
- Using booking systems to schedule and manage guest appointments.
- Communicating supply needs to the Experience Manager.
- Maintaining store cleanliness and operational standards.
- Following dress code and loss prevention practices.
- Executing other operational tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Cosmetology license
Experience: Previous relevant work experience required
Skills:
- Proficiency in latest salon techniques across various services and ability to develop skills.
- Proficiency with equipment and chemicals used in technical work.
- Ability to demonstrate and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Mobility, lifting up to 10 lbs, bending, reaching, twisting, and standing for long periods.
