Service Technician

Whaley Foodservice, LLC is one of the largest commercial kitchen equipment repair service companies in the Southeast, with over 600 employees across 31 geographically dispersed locations.

Pay Rate: $40.00 – $52.00 per hour*. Sign‑On Bonus available for qualified service technicians.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for maintenance and repair of customer equipment as assigned. The technician is trained in at least two skill sets, maintains a high level of productivity, holds at least three of the four CFESA certifications, and is assigned to the on‑call roster. The role demonstrates leadership capabilities and mentors other employees.

Major Responsibilities

1. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment.
2. Troubleshoot and repair gas, electric, water, refrigeration, and steam‑powered commercial kitchen and HVAC equipment.
3. Utilize a tablet to document tasks (parts order, work order, timesheet) in a timely manner.
4. Communicate professionally with customers regarding required repairs and status.
5. Use proper tools for repair, including hand tools and power tools.
6. Monitor truck stock to ensure required parts are stocked on the vehicle.
7. Maintain service vehicle, tools, and uniforms.
8. Work independently with daily supervision.
9. Participate as scheduled for weekend/holiday on‑call rotation and work regular overtime as needed.

Additional Responsibilities

1. Obtain correct part numbers through the branch parts person.
2. Collect payment on COD jobs.
3. Contribute positively to branch targets for response time and first‑time fix rates.
4. Participate in available training to increase skill and knowledge.
5. Perform other duties as required.

Contacts

• Internal – daily with branch staff; occasionally with corporate staff.
• External – frequent and regular contact with customers; occasional contact with factories for warranty purposes.
