Job summary

LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans' Physical Plant/Engineers division seeks an Operating Engineer Master for the Preventive Maintenance Shop. The role involves skilled trades work maintaining mechanical systems, plumbing, and electrical equipment across campus.

Starting pay is $21.05 per hour with a 1st quartile of $25.26, plus longevity, shift differential, and weekend pay. Position requires 3 years of relevant experience and EPA refrigerant certification if applicable.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience or training in operation or maintenance of large stationary engines or mechanical equipment.
• EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification required for refrigerant handling positions.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance tasks on building mechanical equipment and components.
• Operates, monitors and controls system wide output.
• Reads gauges, checks water levels and steam pressures; assists other trades as needed.
• Responds to campus emergencies and special events as assigned.
