Operating Engineer

BlueStone Solutions Group pay range: $35.00/hr - $45.00/hr (actual pay based on skills and experience).

Duration: 3 months CTH
Shift: M-F, 7am-4pm
Parking: Free parking onsite
Interviews: 1st round virtual, 2nd round in‑person onsite

Job Description: The main function of an Operating Engineer is to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment on all systems. Individuals are expected to demonstrate technical expertise in one craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Central Utility Plant Operations) and be multi‑skilled in others to successfully complete daily/weekly work assignments.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance, monitoring and repairs to the Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems to keep building systems up to applicable standards.
  • Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance, general maintenance, and technical proficiency.
  • Perform cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and part replacement for HVAC systems and associated equipment to maintain optimum performance.
  • Record readings and adjust equipment as necessary to ensure proper operation.
  • Comply with departmental policy for safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials; maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory.
  • Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
  • Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas. Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 10+ years’ experience required.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
  • Ability to analyze the operation of various Commercial or Industrial Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC systems, determine the cause of problems and take corrective action.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license is not required.
Preferred
  • Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC.
