Job summary

Mach is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in our Operations Support group, Midland/Odessa, TX. The role covers daily maintenance and diagnosing hydraulics, engines, transmissions, and differentials on multiple brands. A valid Class A CDL and your own tools are required.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs, reading schematics, and safe logging of work. A DOT drug screen and background check are required.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Heavy Equipment Mechanic experience.
  • Valid Class A CDL with no restrictions.
  • Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • DOT pre-employment drug screen and background check required.
  • DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and maintains diesel and gasoline engines on construction equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs machinery, diagnosing performance problems.
  • Inspects and repairs hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems.
  • Performs preventive maintenance with proper documentation.
  • Conducts diagnostic tests on engine systems to resolve faults.
  • Operates hand/power tools, welders, torches, and measuring devices.
  • Completes maintenance logs, JHAs, and other required forms.
  • Adheres to lockout/tagout procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area; manages fuel/purchasing cards.
  • Performs any additional duties safely as assigned.

ABOUT US

Mach is a rapidly growing provider of energy-related construction solutions for the upstream and midstream markets. Mach has a position available in our Operations Support group as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, based out of Midland/Odessa, TX.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for daily routine maintenance on construction equipment. Knowledge of diagnosing and repairing hydraulics, engines, transmissions, and differentials on John Deere, Komatsu, Caterpillar, Link-Belt, Superior, JLG, Sullair, trailer, and Peterbilt haul truck equipment is required. The successful candidate must have their own tools and a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). A drug screen, physical, and criminal background check are required of the successful candidate. Mach offers excellent pay and benefits, including health and dental.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Repairs and maintains diesel and gasoline engines used to power machines and construction machinery.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs construction machinery, diagnoses equipment performance problems, and provides recommendations for problem resolution.
  • Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs a wide range of construction components, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on construction machinery and equipment, and keeps proper records of all tasks performed.
  • Conducts diagnostic tests on engine systems to determine and correct system faults.
  • Operates hand and power tools, grinders, precision measuring instruments, welders, and oxy/acetylene torches.
  • Completes daily maintenance forms, repair logs, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and other required documentation.
  • Exercises proper lockout/tagout procedures when necessary.
  • Exercises safe working practices, including use of required PPE.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.
  • Accurately manages use and reporting of company-provided fuel and purchasing cards.
  • Performs any additional assigned duties in a safe manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of Heavy Equipment Mechanic experience.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no restrictions. (Preferred but not required)
  • Proficient in reading schematics (both electrical and hydraulic).
  • Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision.
  • Knowledgeable in troubleshooting heavy equipment across multiple product lines, including John Deere, Komatsu, Caterpillar, Link-Belt, Superior, JLG, Sullair, trailers, and Peterbilt haul trucks.
  • Experience operating/driving various types of heavy machinery preferred.
  • Fabrication and welding experience preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must be able to qualify for a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
  • Excellent driving record / Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Factory, vocational, or mechanical training is a plus.
  • SAFELAND certification is a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Position requires working outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
