J&H Services is seeking an experienced and dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain our fleet of heavy construction equipment, trucks, trailers, and support vehicles. The ideal candidate is safety-oriented, mechanically skilled, and capable of performing preventative maintenance and repairs to keep equipment operating efficiently and minimize downtime.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and diesel engine systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on heavy construction equipment, commercial trucks, trailers, and support vehicles.
• Repair and replace engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, steering, suspension, and hydraulic components.
• Diagnose equipment issues using computerized diagnostic tools and manufacturer service information.
• Perform welding and light fabrication repairs as needed.
• Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Respond to emergency field repairs when equipment breakdowns occur.
• Conduct equipment inspections to identify potential maintenance concerns before failures occur.
• Operate forklifts, service trucks, and other shop equipment safely.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and manufacturer specifications.
• Communicate repair status and equipment needs with supervisors and operations personnel.
• Assist with maintaining inventory of tools, parts, and shop supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience repairing heavy construction equipment, diesel trucks, or similar equipment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, air brake systems, and drivetrain components.
• Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Welding and fabrication experience is preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL or ability to obtain one is preferred.
• Ability to operate diagnostic software and electronic testing equipment.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, and work in confined spaces.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Climb on and underneath heavy equipment and commercial vehicles.
• Work extended hours, overtime, weekends, or travel to job sites as needed.
