QualificationsEssential Functions:

The Mechanic will play a critical role in the diagnostic and repair of diesel engines and moving equipment, primarily Caterpillar machines.

Job Functions:

• Responsible for repairs and required preventative maintenance of diesel engines and trucks.
• Inspect, trouble shoot, diagnose and perform maintenance on equipment.
• Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documents required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), company and any other Federal State or Local regulations.
• Interpret work orders and technical manuals.
• Repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.
• Perform general shop repairs on equipment.
• Keep records of service reports and work orders.
• Disassemble unit and inspect parts for wear.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure the work meets manufacturer’s specifications and legislated regulations.
• Follow all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Safety (SB198), and shop procedures.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
• Five years of related mechanical experience.
• Must have a valid Class A or Class B driver’s license
• Clean D.M.V. report.
• Knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out

Physical requirements:

Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work in harsh weather for long periods of time. Depending on the phase of the job, all personnel are required to work in conditions where physical demands can consist of placing one’s body in various positions to inspect and accomplish certain tasks such as:
