Job summary

Avis Budget Group in Portland, ME seeks a Master Mechanic to diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles across brands. You’ll perform standard and complex repairs, including warranty work, ensuring safety and reliability and supporting a great customer experience.

You will mentor junior techs, handle engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, HVAC, and onboard computers with minimal supervision, often serving as a technical resource for the team.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Minimum 3 years of professional auto repair experience.
• Current ASE certifications (minimum of 3), with ability to acquire 2 additional within the first year.
• Strong knowledge across ASE areas including Engine Repair, Drivetrain/Axles, Suspension/Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Heating/Air Conditioning, Engine Performance.
• Must have a complete set of tools for automotive repair and maintenance.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks (stand/bend/reach).
• Must be 18+ and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• On-site presence required; this position cannot be performed remotely.
• OEM experience preferred and considered an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard and complex automotive repairs, including warranty work, on a wide range of vehicle makes and models with minimal supervision.
• Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, exhaust, brakes, electrical, A/C and onboard computer systems.
• Work on a diverse fleet of newer vehicles across multiple brands; may serve as a technical resource for other technicians.
• Ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready for customers to get on the road.
