Job summary

Serco is seeking an Advanced Marine Welder to support U.S. Navy ships with on-site welding, fabrication, and installation work in Chesapeake, VA. The role requires strong shipboard welding expertise, blueprint interpretation, and adherence to DoD security protocols.

You will read blueprints, cut and fit metal components, and weld in demanding environments while maintaining safety standards. Travel up to 10% and potential training responsibilities are included.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years shipboard welding experience.
• Must obtain DoD Secret security clearance.
• US Citizenship required.
• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Able to travel up to 10%.
• Must pass pre-certification weld tests and wear PPE.

Responsibilities

• Assemble metal components and repair using heavy machinery with high heat.
• Review blueprints and cut metal to shape.
• Smooth metal surfaces and ensure proper fit.
• Climb shipyard stairs, work in kneeling positions for cable layouts; handle up to 40 lbs for most of shift.
• Potentially train personnel on tools and test equipment.
