Job summary

Serco is hiring an Advanced Marine Welder to support U.S. Navy ships with equipment and C5ISR system installations. The role is based onsite in Chesapeake, VA, with duties including welding, fabricating, and inspecting metal assemblies per Navy standards.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of shipboard welding experience, DoD security clearance, and the ability to travel up to 10%. You will train on Serco welding procedures and wear required PPE while ensuring safety on site.

Qualifications

• Must obtain/maintain DoD Secret clearance.
• US citizenship required.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 5 years shipboard welding experience.
• Able to access shipyards; pass background and drug screening.
• Complete Serco welding qualifications within 30 days of starting.
• Own tools; pass company weld test.
• Get respirator qualified and wear PPE.
• Familiar with NAVSEA repair/fabrication installations.
• Willing to travel up to 10% and work onsite in Chesapeake, VA.

Responsibilities

• Assemble metal components using heavy machinery and repair damaged metal.
• Review blueprints and cut metal to shape.
• Smooth metal to remove creases.
• Navigate shipyard stairs, lift 50 lb with up to 40 lb carrying in most of shift.
• May train personnel on machinery tools and test equipment.
