Job summary

City of St. George is seeking a Master Technician for the Fleet Department to diagnose, maintain and repair diesel, gas, and heavy equipment including emergency and utility vehicles. The position emphasizes hands-on diagnostics, wiring, CAN systems, and extensive electrical work.

Four-day work weeks with 10-hour days (6am–5pm), competitive benefits, training through ASE, and opportunities for advancement. A strong focus on safety and high-quality repair is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum of eight (8) years recent full-time experience in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment repair.
• Thorough knowledge of wiring electrical systems and diagnosing CAN/multiplexed networks.
• Master ASE certification within six months of hire; Utah Class B license within six months.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel, gasoline, and various heavy vehicles and equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and up-fit vehicles for police, fire, and utility use.
• Read diagnostics with OBDII tools and CAN systems; maintain detailed repair notes.
• Mentor Journeyman and Apprentice Technicians; assist with scheduling and supervision as needed.
