Job summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking a seasoned Master Emergency Vehicle Technician to lead and mentor a team of EVT and ASE-certified technicians. You will diagnose, inspect, and repair fire apparatus and related equipment, ensuring the fleet remains mission-ready for city operations.

You’ll work in a high-performance environment with modern tools and ongoing opportunities for EVT/ASE training, certifications, and advancement within the Fleet Management Division.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with five years of relevant work experience.
• Must obtain NC Inspection License within 6 months of hire.
• Class B CDL within 1 year and EVT status within 18 months.
• Must have or obtain EVT Master status within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs advanced diagnosis and repair of diesel engines and complex systems.
• Maintains accurate documentation using fleet maintenance software.
• Maintains a safe work environment in shop and in the field.
• Support an on-call schedule 24/7 for 7 consecutive days in a 4-week rotation.
