Job summary

City of Charlotte seeks a Master Emergency Vehicle Technician to maintain and repair a large fire apparatus fleet, lead a team of technicians, and ensure equipment readiness for city operations.

Responsibilities include diagnosing advanced diesel and electronic systems, mentoring peers, and participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation while documenting work and upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with five years of relevant experience.
• Preferred: EVT Master status and ASE Master status.
• Experience repairing fire apparatus and diesel engines is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs advanced diagnosis and repair of complex diesel engines and electrical systems.
• Lead and mentor junior technicians to maintain high standards.
• Support on-call schedule 24/7, including holidays and weekends.
• Document repairs and maintain safe shop practices.
