Job summary

The City of High Point Fire Department seeks an Emergency Vehicle Maintenance Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain fire apparatus and equipment. You will handle electrical, diesel, and hydraulic systems, ensuring readiness for emergency response.

Ideal candidates have EVT/F-1 with F-2, ASE T-4/T-5, and a valid CDL Class A within one year of hire, plus ability to work on 24-hour response cycles and adhere to OSHA safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must complete 3–6 months of on-the-job training.
  • EVT F-1/F-2 and ASE T-4/T-5 certifications within 2 years of hire.
  • CDL Class A license required within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical problems and repair diverse fire apparatus.
  • Overhaul and maintain specialized fire and rescue equipment.
  • Perform diesel engine repair and fabricate components.
  • Conduct routine electrical repairs on automotive equipment.
  • Maintain parts inventory and cost records.
