Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Master Electrician for Walton Correctional Institution to maintain, repair, and install electrical systems across the facility. This role reports to the designated FDC office and is not a telework position.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, testing, record-keeping, and supervising inmates while ensuring compliance with codes, safety procedures, and accurate parts requisitioning.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 1 year in Electrical/Electrician field OR 4+ years in Electrical field (training can substitute).
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities on application, education, work experience, interview and references.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and install electrical infrastructure up to 600 volts.
• Perform preventive maintenance, tests, and logkeeping per guidelines.
• Supervise inmates, prepare progress reports, and coordinate parts requisition.
• Follow local, state, and federal codes and safety procedures; plan and organize work.
