Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections' Walton Correctional Institution in Florida is seeking a Master Electrician to support the maintenance department. The role covers preventive maintenance, repairs of electrical systems, and installation or replacement of electrical infrastructure up to 600 volts.

You will supervise inmates on certain tasks, maintain logs, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of Electrical/Electrician experience OR four or more years in Electrical/Electrician field; college or vocational training can substitute.
• A valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance and repairs for all electrical systems, ensuring proper function.
• Conducts tests, maintains logs, and keeps records for equipment per guidelines.
• Installs, alters, repairs, or replaces electrical infrastructure up to 600 volts.
• Follows codes, safety procedures, and plans work while requisitioning parts.
• Prepares reports and supervises inmates, participates in training and evaluations.
