Job description

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire (conversion based on performance)

Shift: 4 × 10-hour days (Monday – Thursday)

About the Role

We’re seeking a highly skilled Electrician with strong industrial electrical expertise to join our team in San Antonio’s West Side. In this role, you’ll take ownership of electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs in industrial, commercial, and occasionally residential environments. You will lead helpers with minimal supervision, ensuring all work meets local, state, and national codes while upholding the highest safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Possess strong industrial electrical knowledge, including high- and low-voltage systems.
• Bend and thread conduit (EMT, RMC, IMC); pull wire; and terminate motors, contactors, starters, relays, outlets, and lighting systems.
• Lead and mentor one or more helpers with little to no guidance.
• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain motor controls and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Install control panels, PLC wiring, and industrial automation components.
• Install switchgear, transformers, and distribution panels.
• Perform preventive maintenance on industrial electrical equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in machinery, production lines, and building systems.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and one-line drawings.
• Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA safety standards.
• Maintain accurate logs of work performed, materials used, and hours worked.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Texas Journeyman or Master Electrician License.
• 3+ years of industrial and/or commercial electrical experience.
• Strong knowledge of the NEC.
• Ability to work independently and lead others.
• Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing industrial electrical systems.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
• Ability to provide personal basic electrical hand tools.
• Ability to work from various ladders (step ladders up to 14’, “A” frame ladders, extension ladders) and independently relocate a 12’ step ladder.
• Wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses at all times; respirator when required).
• Ability to perform repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.

Preferred:

• Experience with industrial lighting, backup power systems, and grounding/bonding practices.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

Physical Requirements

• Lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor for extended periods.
• Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions.
• Stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
• Monday–Thursday (occasional Fridays, evenings, and weekends as needed).
• Work includes both indoor and outdoor environments in active industrial facilities.
