Role Overview: Master or Level “A” Service Technician

The Master or Level “A” Service Technician is responsible for understanding and completing complex repairs necessary for customer vehicles. This role involves diagnosing and repairing major components, including removing and replacing parts. The technician should be highly experienced with a specific manufacturer line and hold all relevant manufacturer certifications, such as engine mechanical, engine control systems, electric, hydraulic brake systems, suspension, heating/air conditioning, instruments/gauges, drivability, and noise issues.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform repair work efficiently and accurately according to dealership and factory standards.
  2. Examine vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is needed.
  3. Use the multi-point inspection form on each vehicle.
  4. Document all work and recommendations on repair orders.
  5. Communicate with service advisors about additional work or delays.
  6. Maintain proficiency as per Asbury standards.
  7. Conduct road tests when necessary to verify repairs.
  8. Utilize manufacturer training and technical resources.
  9. Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on new technology.
  10. Maintain Customer Satisfaction Index scores at or above set goals.
  11. Complete warranty repair documentation and claims.
  12. Report safety or operational concerns to management.
  13. Perform diagnosis and repairs on automobiles and light trucks.
  14. Use diagnostic tools and assist fellow technicians.
  15. Mentor and assist less experienced technicians.
  16. Ensure vehicles are returned clean.
  17. Comply with regulations on hazardous waste, OSHA, etc.
  18. Adhere to all legal and company policies regarding vehicle and information security.
  19. Hold ASE and manufacturer certifications preferred; automotive experience required.
  20. Have basic tools and strong mechanical skills.
  21. Work well in a team and handle complex tasks.
  22. Be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license.
  23. Pass pre-employment screening.
