Job summary

Vega Construction Company, Inc. is seeking a Masonry Foreman to lead masons and laborers at assigned construction sites in North Carolina.

Qualifications

  • Five to eight years of masonry or construction experience.
  • Completion of a masonry apprenticeship or three to six years of equivalent hands‑on, journeyman-level masonry experience.
  • One to two years of leadership experience running a small crew or serving as a crew chief.
  • Ability to independently read and interpret architectural and structural masonry drawings, specifications, details, approved changes, and applicable building codes.
  • Strong knowledge of brick, block, stone, mortar, grout, reinforcement, scaffolding, and masonry installation methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead crews, establish priorities, track production, and hold team members accountable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily safety discussions, verify PPE, inspect work practices, and enforce OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Coordinate masonry materials, equipment, scaffolding, tools, and supplies to keep crews productive.
  • Report daily manpower, production, progress, deliveries, delays, safety concerns, and site conditions to the Masonry Superintendent.

About the Position

Vega Construction Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced, dependable, and hands-on Masonry Foreman to lead masons and laborers at assigned construction sites.

The Masonry Foreman will provide daily direction to field crews and help ensure masonry work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently, in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and schedules.

This position works closely with the Masonry Superintendent, Project Managers, Safety Coordinator, suppliers, subcontractors, general contractors, and other project partners.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead masons, bricklayers, laborers, and subcontractor crews.
  • Assign daily work, coordinate crew activities, demonstrate proper techniques, and monitor field productivity.
  • Review masonry drawings, specifications, approved details, and project changes to plan daily work.
  • Plan work areas, crew assignments, installation sequences, tools, and equipment use.
  • Inspect brick, block, stone, mortar joints, grout, reinforcement, and related work for correct dimensions, alignment, level, plumb, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Lead daily safety discussions, verify personal protective equipment, inspect work practices, and enforce OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Coordinate masonry materials, equipment, scaffolding, tools, and supplies to keep crews productive.
  • Confirm material deliveries and ensure materials are properly stored and protected.
  • Communicate project requirements and approved changes clearly to field crews.
  • Resolve layout, access, sequencing, material, and workmanship concerns and promptly report issues requiring additional direction.
  • Coordinate work with other trades and project partners.
  • Report daily manpower, production, progress, deliveries, delays, safety concerns, and changing jobsite conditions to the Masonry Superintendent.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, photographs, and project documentation using a smartphone or tablet.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Five to eight years of masonry or construction experience.
  • Completion of a masonry apprenticeship or three to six years of equivalent hands‑on, journeyman-level masonry experience.
  • One to two years of formal or informal leadership experience running a small crew, assisting a Senior Foreman, or serving as a crew chief.
  • Ability to independently read and interpret architectural and structural masonry drawings, specifications, details, approved changes, and applicable building codes.
  • Strong knowledge of brick, block, stone, mortar, grout, reinforcement, scaffolding, and masonry installation methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead crews, establish priorities, track production, and hold team members accountable.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA requirements, fall protection, scaffolding, personal protective equipment, hazard recognition, and jobsite safety.
  • Ability to inspect masonry work and maintain quality, dimensional, alignment, level, plumb, and production standards.
  • Sound judgment, practical problem‑solving skills, and clear communication.
  • Ability to work effectively with the Masonry Superintendent, Project Managers, general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, field crews, and other trades.
  • Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet for email, photographs, daily reports, construction plans, and project communication.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish skills are preferred but not required.
Additional Position Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to assigned construction sites.
  • Ability to work schedules required by project needs, including occasional weekends.
  • Ability to perform hands‑on masonry work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely navigate active construction sites, uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and scaffolding.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and follow all company safety policies, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Lead masonry field operations for a growing contractor with experienced, engaged leadership.
  • Work closely with the Masonry Superintendent, Project Managers, Safety Coordinator, and field teams.
