Job summary

Mitchell1 in San Diego, CA is seeking a MarkLogic Developer to design and maintain enterprise MarkLogic data models (XML/JSON) and semantic data structures, enabling metadata-driven applications and secure data access.

You will work with senior engineers to optimize indexing, run CI/CD pipelines, implement RBAC and encryption, and support data governance, compliance, and DataOps practices in cloud-hosted MarkLogic environments.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in database engineering or data platform roles.
• 1+ years of hands-on experience with MarkLogic Server.
• Experience with security controls including RBAC and encryption.
• Experience with CI/CD environments and Git.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain MarkLogic data models, including XML, JSON, and semantic data structures.
• Build and optimize XQuery and SPARQL queries for search, ingestion, and transformation workflows.
• Support ingestion pipelines, data harmonization flows, and metadata enrichment processes.
• Assist with configuration and maintenance of MarkLogic clusters, databases, forests, and indexes.
• Monitor system performance and optimize indexing strategies and query efficiency.
• Support capacity planning, high availability, replication, and disaster recovery configurations.
• Follow standards for data modeling, metadata, taxonomy, and governance.
• Collaborate with engineers to support API-driven and search-first architectures.
• Participate in deployment pipelines with version control, CI/CD, and IaC processes.
• Support SOC 2, ISO 27001 compliance through RBAC and encryption.
• Contribute to DataOps practices and enterprise data governance.
