Job summary

Titus Talent Strategies is seeking a Marketing Director to act as the operational right hand to the CMO in Hampton Roads. You will drive execution, approvals, timelines and checklists for a busy marketing department and manage cross-functional collaboration.

You will own end-to-end event execution, improve departmental processes, and bring data-driven recommendations. The role requires strong leadership without formal direct reports and a track record of making operations run smoothly.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of marketing experience with ownership of execution and process.
  • Experience leading events and managing a small team.
  • Ability to lead projects and influence a team without formal direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as final approver on press releases, graphics, and routine creative so campaigns move without bottlenecks
  • Own event execution end to end: build the checklist, assign the tasks, hold the team to the timeline, and run the debrief
  • Own departmental processes and improve them. If a workflow is broken or slow, you are expected to find it and fix it without being asked
  • Keep every project on timeline and flag risks early, not after deadlines slip
  • Dig into campaign and channel data, ask the second and third question, and bring recommendations rather than just the reports
  • Bring new ideas. Following the process and improving the process are both the job
  • Over time, represent the CMO in select vendor and internal meetings and return with informed recommendations

Job description

Our client, a well-established and growing professional services firm in Hampton Roads, is looking for a Marketing Director to serve as the operational right hand to their CMO. You are stepping into a four-person team that runs multiple events per year, manages a database of 80,000 contacts, and works against a marketing budget projected to reach $3 million in 2027.

The CMO owns vision, brand, and major spend decisions. What she needs is someone who owns how that vision gets executed: the approvals, the timelines, the checklists, and the processes that keep a busy department moving without everything routing through one person. You will make real decisions aligned with the CMO's strategic vision.

What You Will Do
  • Serve as final approver on press releases, graphics, and routine creative so campaigns move without bottlenecks
What We Are Looking For
Must-Haves:
  • 5+ years of marketing experience with demonstrated ownership of execution and process
  • Event management experience leading a small team through multiple events per year
  • Proven ability to lead projects and influence a team without formal direct reports
Nice-to-Haves:
  • Legal, financial services, or other professional services marketing background
  • Working knowledge of email marketing infrastructure including DKIM, SPF, and database segmentation
  • Experience managing an email database in the tens of thousands of contacts
You Are the Right Fit If...
  • You get satisfaction from making an operation run better
  • You have led events, not just staffed them
  • You look at a report and immediately have three questions about why the numbers look that way
  • You make decisions in your lane without waiting for permission
  • You would rather fix a process once than work around it fifty times
