Job description

The Brookline Arts Center (BAC), a community visual arts center in a historic firehouse in Brookline, is looking for a creative, community-minded marketer and designer to help tell BAC's story. Every week our studios fill with kids, teens, and adults making art, from first-time painters to working artists. We want more people across Brookline and Greater Boston to find their way to our classes, workshops, exhibitions, and summer camp.

The ideal candidate brings fresh ideas, a strong design eye, and real experience planning and running marketing campaigns. You'll work closely with our Director to shape ideas and turn them into finished work across Instagram, Facebook, email, our website, print, and the local community. You write in a warm, upbeat voice that gets people excited to sign up, and you love seeing a campaign through from first idea to full class. This role is a great fit for a self-starter who enjoys juggling several projects with a small, close-knit team.

This is a hybrid, part-time position of about 24 hours a week over three consistent weekdays, with up to 30 hours in peak weeks. You'll be onsite in Brookline 1-2 days a week, more during your first two weeks. The role starts in early November as a 6-month position (through April 2027), with a check-in at 3 months and potential to grow into a longer-term role depending on BAC's needs and budget.

About this Organization

The Brookline Arts Center is a community-based visual arts center in a historic firehouse in Brookline, Massachusetts. We make art accessible, inclusive, and connected to the community through classes and workshops for all ages, exhibitions, summer camp, artist opportunities, and community partnerships.

We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, age, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, national origin, marital status, disability, veteran status, or any other status protected by law. We strongly encourage applicants of all backgrounds and abilities.

Qualifications:

Content creation and social media: Plan, create, and schedule engaging content for BAC's Instagram and Facebook, at least one feed post and three stories a week. Photograph and film classes, exhibitions, and events to keep content fresh and real.

Design: Create graphics for social media, email, web, and print, including flyers, posters, postcards, and signage for programs, special events, and exhibitions.

Email and website: Build and send our monthly newsletter and targeted campaigns in Mailchimp. Keep our Cargo website current with classes, exhibitions, events, and camp information.

Campaigns: Bring ideas to the table and help run our seasonal campaigns, starting with winter session promotion, the summer camp launch in mid-December, year-end giving, including Giving Tuesday, and our spring fundraiser, BAC in Bloom including building its event and ticketing pages.

Community outreach: Build relationships with local outlets, including PTO newsletters, parent groups, schools, libraries, and community calendars. Submit calendar listings and press releases for exhibitions and events.

Tracking and organization: Track what's working, including email opens, social engagement, and registrations. Keep design files, photos, and brand assets organized, and help with occasional data entry in our donor database.

Your First Projects (November-December)

Winter classes and workshops (starting January 4):Lead the promotion push through November and December with social posts, email, and local outreach, focusing first on classes that still have open spots.

Summer camp launch (on our website by December 15):Help get camp information and registration live on the website, then kick off the launch campaign to families through social media, email, PTOs, and parent networks.

Year-end giving: Support our annual appeal and Giving Tuesday (December 1) with social posts and email reminders
