Objective:
The Content Strategist is a master storyteller and communicator. This role builds and leads brand and campaign content strategy, framework, and optimization across multiple audience segments and delivery channels to attract, engage, build trust, preference, and loyalty for our distributors and consumers.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the UX Content Strategist, Creative Strategist, and key stakeholders to ensure strategies align with organizational goals, consulting with writers and designers on execution.
- Define and document content strategies that support marketing and business objectives.
- Understand business goals, audience segments, and journeys, focusing on audience needs and pain points.
- Establish content pillars and key messaging consistent with our brand identity.
- Develop content distribution strategies across channels such as websites, social media, email, paid media, direct mail, and trade shows.
- Maintain a content calendar outlining themes, formats, and schedules.
- Generate engaging content ideas in various formats including blogs, videos, infographics, etc.
- Work with research and analytics teams to align on best practices, development, and content optimization based on insights.
- Use SEO and keyword research provided by agency partners to understand customer needs and search trends.
- Present strategies and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior leaders, to ensure alignment and incorporate feedback.
- Deliver compelling presentations to advocate for ideas and guide teams.
- Collaborate with writers and designers to ensure high-quality, consistent content that adheres to brand guidelines.
- Communicate technical subjects clearly and engagingly.
- Guide best practices in content creation, including copywriting and storytelling techniques.
- Review SEO and social media recommendations for alignment with content strategy.
- Assess existing content for gaps and opportunities to inform new content strategies.
- Understand our products and services across distribution channels.
- Follow marketing processes to meet legal, compliance, and audit standards.
Qualifications/Education:
- 10+ years in marketing content strategy or related experience.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or related field.
- Proven innovative and collaborative content strategist, with experience in B2B marketing, especially in financial services, life, and annuities.
- Extensive knowledge of content distribution, including social media and email marketing.
- Experience with content audits and inventories.
- Strong analytical skills, project management, and enthusiasm for data-driven marketing.
- High-level thinker with attention to detail.
- Ability to build relationships across all organizational levels.
- Experience mentoring creative teams.
- Excellent judgment, problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Impeccable grammar and adaptable writing style for different audiences and brand voices.
- Effective communicator and advocate for content strategy.
Protective's targeted salary range for this position is $75,000 to $115,000, with actual salaries varying based on factors like location, skills, and experience. This range is part of the total compensation package.
This role offers additional incentives through an annual performance-based bonus.
