Job summary

The Phillips Collection in Washington, DC is seeking a Marketing & Audience Development Coordinator to support audience growth and engagement. This part-time role handles email marketing, social media, and promotional activities, collaborating with the Marketing Manager on campaigns and partnerships.

You will help identify prospective audiences, assist with campaign measurement and ROI analysis, and contribute to efforts that increase first-time guests and retention, while benefiting from DC

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, museum studies, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with email marketing and social media platforms; familiarity with digital audience targeting and CRM tools a plus.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to create engaging, audience-appropriate content.
  • Comfort with campaign measurement, reporting, and basic ROI analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with community organizations and partners.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Passion for the arts and a commitment to visitor-centered, mission-driven work.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain relationships with community organizations, tourism partners, universities, affinity groups, and other audience-building partners in collaboration with MarComm colleagues.
  • Support initiatives aimed at increasing first-time guests and re-engaging lapsed audiences through programs and campaigns.
  • Assist with campaign measurement, reporting, and ROI analysis.
  • Assist with promotional efforts that increase awareness, attendance, and engagement.

Salary Range: $22.00 To $26.00 Hourly

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Marketing & Audience Development Coordinator supports The Phillips Collection's strategic priorities around audience growth, engagement, programmatic marketing, and relationship building. This role combines marketing responsibilities — including email marketing, social media, and promotional support — with audience development efforts focused on identifying, attracting, and cultivating new audiences. The position provides dedicated resources to support both audience growth and marketing effectiveness while advancing institutional goals.

This part-time role builds greater consistency in audience development efforts while providing additional capacity for both internal and external marketing initiatives in collaboration with the Marketing Manager as outlined in the Strategic Plan. This position provides dedicated support for acquisition, retention, and engagement — work with the potential to increase attendance, strengthen earned revenue, and enhance the guest experience.

Schedule: Part-time, up to 24 hours per week

ESSENTAIL FUNCTIONS:

Marketing & Audience Development

  • Identify and research prospective audience segments.
  • Support implementation of audience acquisition and audience growth campaigns.
  • Assist with direct mail, email marketing, social media, and digital audience targeting efforts.
  • Support and maintain relationships with community organizations, tourism partners, universities, affinity groups, and other audience-building partners in collaboration with MarComm colleagues.
  • Support initiatives aimed at increasing first-time guests and re-engaging lapsed audiences through programs and campaigns such as Third Thursdays, Capital Pride, and other activities.
  • Assist with campaign measurement, reporting, and ROI analysis.
  • Assist with promotional efforts that increase awareness, attendance, and engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, museum studies, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in marketing, audience development, or community engagement, ideally within a museum, nonprofit, or cultural institution.
  • Experience with email marketing and social media platforms; familiarity with digital audience targeting and CRM tools a plus.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to create engaging, audience-appropriate content.
  • Comfort with campaign measurement, reporting, and basic ROI analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with community organizations and partners.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
