Job summary

Bi-Rite Market in San Francisco is seeking a Market Stocker to create an inspiring guest experience. You will greet guests, assist in merchandising, and ensure stock levels, display quality, and product safety across the sales floor and refrigerated cases.

The role requires opening availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays, with emphasis on closing shifts Friday–Monday. Prior retail/food service experience and ServSafe/California Food Handler credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• 6+ months previous retail and food service experience recommended.
• Fluency in English, spoken and written.
• ServSafe Certification and California Food Handler card required within 30 days post-hire.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes guests and provides assistance in Market Merchandising.
• Creates displays, keeps department neat, labeled, and organized.
• Receives, stocks, and rotates inventory in all areas.
• Maintains cleanliness and handling of perishable items.
• Ensures shelves are clean and displays are well-maintained.
• Handles damaged or expired products to department standards.

OPPORTUNITY

The Market Stocker is responsible for creating an inspiring experience for our guests. They give outstanding hospitality by meeting and exceeding our guests’ expectations and providing excellent internal hospitality to the team. Their responsibilities include assisting in the smooth and seamless operations of the business, reaching store goals, upholding product quality and consistency standards, controlling inventory levels and mitigating waste, maintaining equipment and facilities, and safely handling all of our products and equipment. They are part of a cohesive Bi-Rite team that supports the Bi-Rite Missions, Vision, and Community Values.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes guests, provides expertise and assistance in the Market Merchandising department.
• Creates beautiful and bountiful displays. Keeps the department displays, neat, clean, accurately labeled, and receiving areas
• Receives, organizes and stocks all merchandise on the salesfloor, the refrigerated cases, backstock, and receiving areas
• Puts away inventory, paying close attention to proper rotation, handling perishable items safety, and restocking high-volume products quickly.
• Keeps the business running smoothly by keeping shelves clean by dusting and sweeping as needed, and maintaining sample displays
• Handles damaged, cut-of-date, spoils, and returned products to department standards.

Qualifications

• 6+ months previous retail and food service experience recommended.

• ServSafe Certification, California Food Handler card is required within 30 days post-hire. Bi-Rite provides on-site paid training and certification.
• Continuous standing and carrying between 11-50+ pounds.
