Job summary

Brookshire Grocery Company is seeking a Meat Department Associate to ensure market and seafood cases stay full, rotated, and fresh. You will cut, weigh, package, and label products, while supporting the team and maintaining safety standards.

You will train staff, manage in-stock levels, and promote sales with friendly, customer-focused service. This role requires the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays and to operate meat cutting equipment safely.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1+ year in meat department or equivalent.
• Practical experience as a meatcutter, apprentice, or manager trainee preferred.
• Food Handler certification required; Manager Food Safety certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Train and supervise partners; assist with scheduling and directing work.
• Co-manage inventory and monitor in-stock levels; review sales and promotions data.
• Review P&L, shrink, labor with department manager.
• Check and unload trucks; verify inventory accuracy and paperwork.
• Cut, weigh, package, and label products to specification.
• Enforce quality control and food safety; rotate dated products.
• Maintain organized coolers/freezers per company guidelines.
• Promote sales through suggestive selling and customer engagement.
• Greet customers, answer questions, and take orders by phone or in person.
• Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary work/shopping environment per safety procedures.
