Job summary

Hy-Vee in Waterloo, IA is seeking a Market Grille Cook to join our fast-paced kitchen team. You will prepare hot and cold menu items, stock the case, and ensure orders are made with care.

You’ll deliver friendly customer service, work as part of a team, follow sanitation procedures, and support the Market Grille department with readiness for each shift.

No previous experience required; training provided to help you succeed in a dynamic store environment.

Qualifications

• Competent customer service and teamwork required.
• Able to learn and follow instructions and maintain accuracy.
• Basic numeracy and communication skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greeting customers with a smile and learning their names.
• Prepare cooking surfaces and menu items including vegetables, sides, meats, and breakfast items.
• Place food in hot cases, monitor amounts and refill as needed throughout the shift.
• Stay knowledgeable of all menu items and take guest orders as needed.
• Prepare items for upcoming shifts to keep the department running smoothly.
• Maintain sanitation and keep work area clean and organized at all times.
• Order product and supplies as needed or notify managers of requirements.
• Work with coworkers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant environment.
• Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects.
• Maintain hygiene and dress standards and follow Hy-Vee policies.
• Report to work on schedule and on time.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent experience
