Job summary

QinetiQ US is seeking a Maritime Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) with extensive experience in Navy surface and underwater systems. The role provides technical leadership, systems engineering expertise, and lifecycle support for shipboard systems, collaborating with government and industry to modernization and sustainment efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline required.
• 9+ years of experience in U.S. Navy programs.
• Secret clearance required.
• Strong systems engineering knowledge and processes.
• Experience with shipboard systems integration, modernization, or lifecycle sustainment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience with engineering reviews, requirements analysis, and risk management.
• Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on U.S. Navy systems from concept to fielding.
• Support requirements development, architecture, interface definitions, and trade studies.
• Evaluate integration of shipboard mechanical, electrical, and combat systems.
• Perform assessments, reviews, and design evaluations for modernization and sustainment.
• Identify risks and propose engineering solutions across lifecycles.
• Review specifications, drawings, and data packages for completeness.
• Support configuration management, integration, verification, and acceptance activities.
• Collaborate with government, shipyards, OEMs, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop reports, white papers, and recommendations for proposals.
• Provide engineering support during installation planning and fleet introduction.
