Job summary

QinetiQ US is seeking a Maritime Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) with extensive experience designing, developing and fielding Navy surface and undersea systems. The role provides technical leadership and lifecycle support across shipboard platforms in collaboration with government and industry partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is required.
• 9+ years of experience supporting U.S. Navy programs.
• Secret Clearance required; #qinetiqclearedjob.
• Demonstrated expertise in systems engineering principles and processes.
• Experience with shipboard systems integration, modernization, or life-cycle sustainment.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs, interface control documents, and systems documentation.
• Strong writing, presentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise on U.S. Navy systems from concept through fielding.
• Support requirements development, systems architecture, interface definition, and trade studies.
• Evaluate integration of shipboard mechanical, electrical, combat, and propulsion systems.
• Conduct engineering assessments, reviews, and design evaluations for modernization.
• Analyze system performance, identify risks, and recommend solutions.
• Review documents, drawings, and data packages for completeness.
• Support configuration management, systems integration, verification, and acceptance.
• Participate in design reviews and customer briefings.
• Collaborate with government personnel, shipyards, OEMs, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop technical reports, white papers, and proposals.
• Provide engineering support during installation planning, testing, and fleet introduction.
