Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory seeks a Signal and Image Processing Engineer to advance electromagnetic systems for national security missions. You will develop and assess radar, EW, and remote sensing algorithms, working with a team of engineers, mathematicians, and scientists to improve warfighter situational awareness.

The role calls for designing and prototyping algorithms, evaluating performance, and communicating results through code and reports.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or related field.
  • Experience applying signal processing, image processing, pattern recognition, ML or DL to sensor data.
  • Experience prototyping algorithms using MATLAB or Python.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently; comfortable in secure facilities.
  • Active Top Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship; eligible for TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evaluate signal and image processing algorithms to extract information from sensor systems.
  • Develop filtering, detection, estimation, tracking, and classification algorithms using simulated and real data.
  • Evaluate real-world performance and recommend improvements to algorithms.
  • Combine knowledge and latest advances to tackle radar, EW, remote sensing, and related challenges.
  • Participate in algorithm development life cycle from data curation to deployment and benchmarking.
  • Clearly communicate findings through code, presentations, and reports.
  • Expand knowledge of electromagnetic systems and maritime domain.
