Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, MD is seeking a Communications EW Systems Developer to design and integrate algorithms for RF communications and counter-UAS capabilities on tactical hardware.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team on lab and field tests, applying DSP and SDR techniques while conducting system-level trade studies and ensuring readiness for security clearances.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years in developing and integrating code (C, C++, Python, MATLAB) for communications or EW.
  • Experience in hardware and software testing with embedded communication systems.
  • Experience documenting/maintaining codebases with Gitlab, Bitbucket, or Confluence.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multifunctional team.
  • Willing to travel occasionally for off-site integration/test events.
  • Able to obtain Interim Secret clearance by start date and ultimately TS/SCI; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop algorithms for deployment on tactical hardware using DSP and wireless protocols.
  • Test and evaluate with spectrum analyzers, signal generators, SDRs to verify software.
  • Analyze trade-offs for performance and hardware utilization at system level.
  • Provide technical expertise during field and lab test and evaluation events.
  • Collaborate within a high-performing, knowledge-rich team.
