Job summary

TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico LLC is seeking a Manager of Compliance and Safety in Jacksonville, FL. This full-time role leads safety and compliance initiatives across IMS programs including ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and 37301, and collaborates with cross-functional leaders to integrate compliance into operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety and compliance preferred.
• Five or more years of maritime or vessel experience preferred.
• Understanding of marine transportation and marine terminal operations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels.
• Ability to travel as needed to fulfill duties.
• Knowledge of applicable legal and other requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
• Proficient in Windows and MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead the organization in implementing new safety strategies designed to eliminate injury.
• Audit stevedore contractors to enforce safety initiatives.
• Manage records retention services and activities.
• Promote a safety culture through training, recognition of safety achievements, and communication of safety goals.
• Document and communicate compliance resolutions on safety matters.
• Ensure personnel are trained and develop training requirements as needed.
• Develop, administer, and control the annual Plan for Safety financial commitments and expenditures.
• Coordinate with Saltchuk and TOTE, Inc. on organization-wide Safety/Compliance Programs.
• Directly supervise non-supervisory employees and handle hiring, training, and performance reviews.
• Prepare high-quality reports, updates, and presentations for senior leadership.
