Job summary

TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico LLC is seeking a Manager of Safety and Compliance to lead safety initiatives, maintain the Integrated Management System, and coordinate with Saltchuk and TOTE, Inc. You will supervise staff and ensure regulatory compliance across Safety/Compliance programs.

The role requires strong leadership, advanced communication, and the ability to manage multiple safety projects while training personnel and reporting to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety and compliance discipline preferred; five or more years maritime or vessel experience preferred.
• Understanding of marine transportation and marine terminal operations preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to influence employees at all levels.
• Ability to travel as needed to effectively facilitate duties.
• Knowledge of applicable legal and other requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
• Computer literate; proficient in Windows and MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead the organization in implementing new safety strategies to eliminate injury.
• Audit stevedore contractors to safety initiatives for TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico and TOTE, Inc.
• Manage services and activities of Record Retention.
• Promote safety culture through training, planning, recognition, and communication of goals.
• Document compliance resolutions on safety matters.
• Develop training requirements and ensure adequate safety training for personnel.
• Develop and implement goals, policies, and priorities for Safety/Compliance.
• Administer and control the annual Safety plan and budget.
• Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership and governance bodies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to integrate compliance into operations.
