Job summary

The Port of San Diego is seeking a Director of Maritime to lead its Maritime line of business, overseeing cargo and cruise terminal operations, commercial fishing facilities, maritime industrial properties, and public docks. The role demands a seasoned leader capable of directing day-to-day operations and shaping both short- and long-term business plans.

Ideal candidates will have a management background in large-scale maritime facilities or transportation/logistics, with a proven track record

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant field.
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible project, program, or personnel management experience in the operation and maintenance of a large maritime facility or related industry.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, manage, and provide administrative direction for all Maritime Department functions.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term strategic goals for cargo, cruise, and maritime operations.
  • Oversee budgeting, staffing, contracts, and staff performance within the Maritime Department.
  • Represent the Port in meetings with officials, agencies, and private groups; coordinate with other Port departments.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in nautical science, public administration, transportation, business administration, or related field
