Job summary

Tocaro Blue, Inc. is seeking an Forward Deployed Engineering Manager to lead a small team and deliver hands-on technical leadership for ProteusCore™ and ApolloCore™ deployments.

Based in our Birmingham, Alabama office, you will engage with customers, plan deployments, and guide field engineering across vessels and maritime platforms. You will directly mentor four engineers, champion cross-functional collaboration with ML and software teams, and travel about half the time to customer sites,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or technical field.
• 7+ years leading engineers or technical personnel.
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
• Experience with Linux-based systems and local networks (NMCLI).
• Ability to diagnose complex, multi-domain systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of up to four Forward Deployed Engineers.
• Serve as primary technical and operational contact for customers during deployments.
• Plan deployment, balancing priorities, resources, and risks.
• Troubleshoot field issues and provide hands-on support.
• Oversee hardware, software, networking integrations on vessels.
• Collaborate with ML/Software teams and leadership to resolve challenges.
• Travel ~50% to customer sites and test locations.
• Drive root-cause analysis and long-term improvements.
