Job summary

U.S. Facilities, Inc. seeks a Marine/Maritime Designated Duty Engineer to operate and monitor the Jamestown/Surry ferries' main engines and auxiliary machinery, ensuring safety for passengers, crew, and property. The role requires a current MMC for 3000 HP and Coast Guard credentials.

Candidates must have TWIC, First Aid/CPR, and willingness to work after hours during emergencies. Position offers hourly pay and standard benefits while on site in Virginia.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Five (5) years of experience in the above qualifications.
• Coast Guard Engineering Credential.
• Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
• Obtain and Maintain First Aid and CPR Certifications.
• MMC-endorsed as a“Designated Duty Engineer” of motor vessels of at least 3000 HP.

Responsibilities

• Operate main engines and auxiliary machinery on ferry vessels.
• Maintain vessel readiness and report deficiencies.
• Record fuel readings and maintain engineering logs.
• Ensure vessel security and emergency response readiness.
• Provide information and assistance to passengers.
• Work outside normal hours during emergencies as required by VDOT/PM.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or USF Senior Project Manager.
