Job summary

U.S. Facilities, Inc. seeks a Marine/Maritime Designated Duty Engineer to oversee the 3000HP main engine and auxiliary systems on ferry vessels. The role requires operating the engines per USCG/VDOT guidelines, training crew, and maintaining readiness for inspections.

The position includes a 90-day probation, potential out-of-hours emergency work, and duties such as keeping logs and reporting. Location includes Jamestown or Surry side of the river.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of main engines and auxiliary machinery operation on ferry vessels.
• Familiar with USCG regulations governing ferry operations.
• Ability to train others and perform drills.
• MMC-endorsed as Designated Duty Engineer (at least 3000 HP).

Responsibilities

• Operate all vessel machinery per USCG and VDOT policies.
• Perform drills and crew training; maintain vessel readiness for inspections.
• Maintain accurate logs, readings, and records daily.
• Ensure security during shifts and respond to emergencies.
• Provide passenger information and assistance.
• Work outside normal hours during emergencies as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
