Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 3+ years of stevedoring/port operations experience.
• 1+ year of supervisory experience in crane, rigging, or cargo handling operations.
• Knowledge of crane operations, rigging, and cargo handling practices.
• Ability to read lifting plans, load charts, and cargo documentation.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on vessel schedules.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily cargo operations, including crane crews, riggers, and laborers during vessel loading/unloading.
• Assist with setup, inspection, and safe operation of cranes and lifting equipment.
• Ensure cargo handling complies with load charts and lifting plans.
• Support operations across multiple job sites and travel as required.
• Monitor workflow and adjust operations to maintain productivity.
• Identify and report equipment issues or delays to Operations leadership.
• Train, mentor, and coach crew on crane operation, rigging, and safety procedures.
• Enforce OSHA regulations and PPE use; maintain safety records.
• Maintain records of work performed, inspections, and safety activities.
• Communicate progress and issues with vessel personnel and leadership.
• Assist in basic troubleshooting and operational adjustments of ship’s gear.
• Act as timekeeping lead and assist with crew scheduling and payroll documentation.
