Job summary

Carver Companies in New York's port operations seeks a Foreman B to support Foreman A in supervising daily port and terminal operations, ensuring safety and efficiency.

You will lead operators, riggers, and labor crews, monitor equipment use, and enforce OSHA-compliant procedures while coordinating with vessel personnel and terminal staff to maintain productive operations. The role requires flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays based on schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in port operations, marine terminals, logistics, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of supervisory or lead experience managing dock crews or material handling operations.
• Strong knowledge of port equipment, cargo handling procedures, and safety regulations.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily port operations, including equipment operators, riggers, and labor crews.
• Assist with setup, inspection, and safe operation of port equipment including forklifts, cranes, and material handling machinery.
• Ensure cargo handling and operational activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
• Monitor workflow and adjust operations to maintain efficiency and meet production goals.
• Identify and report equipment malfunctions or delays to Foreman A or the Operations Manager.
• Train, mentor, and support crew members on procedures and safety standards.
• Maintain records of work performed, equipment usage, and safety inspections.
• Coordinate with vessel personnel and terminal staff regarding progress and issues.
• Assist with basic troubleshooting and operational adjustments to support continuous operations.
• Serve as acting team lead in the absence of Foreman A and manage crew schedules.
